Koi keeping need not be a solitary hobby. There are many koi clubs and society's all over the U.K, and indeed throughout the world. I myself am a member of the West Wales Koi Keepers , who are just one of many koi clubs around the U.K and Ireland. The benefits of joining a club are many, including,  a) good quality koi food at very reasonable prices (as they are able to buy in bulk).  b) Free advice on koi health and pond construction.  c) Coach trips to other koi clubs, i.e. visits to 5 or 6 of their members ponds. Very usefull if you are still at the design stage of your own pond.

There is also a National koi club known as the British koi keepers Society. You can log onto their website at  http://www.bkks.co.uk

The B.K.K.S have a regular section in Koi Carp magazine available at all good newsagents.

This koi is an asagi, a blue grey body with red markings on the lower body and fins.

This koi is a kin ki utsuri, a black fish with a gold pattern. Good examples of this variety are rare, and this fish is a particularly good specimen. (not my fish unfortunately.)
